semester 2 video reflection

Music video

For this project I was put into a small group of 4. In this group we had to create a music video using the 5 guarantees. This music video took about 3-4 weeks to create and edit it. One main challenge I faced was the fact that for majority of the time it was really me and another group member doing all the work. There were a lot of scheduling conflicts as well as group disagreement. I did learn that communication is really a key aspect that you should include in every group project, as well as compromising to your groups needs. My group was told that our video was very good, however we need to work on making sure white balance and lighting aren't draining out the shot. one thing we changed was our attitude towards the project. we did have conflict, but arguing wasn't going to get the project done. so i definitely had to change my outlook on the project. This video was one of my strongest but had the most issues. It was necessarily the video itself, but the group effort.

High school trailer 

For this project I was in a group of 3 people. In this group we had to create a high school trailer based on another movie. This took about 3-4 weeks. one challenge we faced was bad weather. There were a few scenes that we had to shoot outside and the weather really didn't want to cooperate. we did learn how to sue certain equipment that my help when the weather is bad. such as a wind guard. We learned that it will help when the wind may be drowning out the sound. The main feedback we got was that we need to make sure the wind wasn't drowning out the sound and that we use proper equipment. I now know what to use when the weather is bad, plus I know how to problem solve in those situations. This video was one of my most successful videos throughout the school year.

Short film

In this project I was in a group of 5. For this project we had to create and write our own short film then film and edit it. This took about 4-5 weeks to complete. One challenge our group faced was the fact that we had to change an entire scene due to improper location. we learned that sometimes you do have to change things up for them to be successful. we leaned that not everything is perfect. The feedback we got was very hopeful! we were told that our short film was very good and that there was a lot of potential. There was one small part that could have been easy fixed but that was really the only issue. One thing we changed was the actual short film. The short film we did was not the original choice due to inconsistencies. Overall I was very proud of the final product and this was the best project all year.

Time

In class I tend to get distracted easily, but I'm able to get my work done without any issues. If at anytime I was done early I would check over my work and fix anything I needed to.  I would check to make sure everything was they way i wanted it to. Outside of school i would talk with y group members to check that our plans were still plans. I go over my material outside of class to make sure its the best it can be. 

strenght 

 My main strength as a video production student is leadership. I am able to get my projects in on time as well as making sure my in group projects that everyone is on task and is getting things done. i continue to maximize my strengths by reminding myself of the5 guarantees of e-Comm.

Needs for improvement 

One area of improvement I need work on is focusing better in class. I tend to get distracted by my peers and I end up not working on video. Sometimes if I get off topic I try changing the subject back to video and this usually helps me stay on task.

Summary 

My favorite project this year was definitely the short film. There were not many conflicts and everything turned out very good.  If i could change anything it would be making sure i don't get to off topic in class. I want to make sure I'm paying attention at all times. This semester was definitely the semester that you learned about collaboration and communication. I had to include those so many times this semester. Next year my main goal is to do roles that I was uncomfortable doing this year. I want to explore the different roles in video production. I just want to say i really enjoyed his class1
